During the drying process, the surface paint dries at different rates, causing unevenness in the paint surface, leading to sudden shrinkage and wrinkling of the topcoat. This results in irregularly shaped wrinkles.
Cause:
Too thick a layer of paint causes the surface layer to dry while the underlying layer remains wet.
Poor drying conditions:
Too slow or too high temperature.
Too strong or too weak airflow.
Contaminated air.
Insufficient evaporation time or high temperature, leading to rapid drying or exposure to sunlight.
Incorrect thinner: too strong penetration causes swelling and wrinkling.
Excessive drying time of synthetic resin coating in air before baking.
Correction:
Allow the paint surface to dry completely.
If wrinkling is minor, sand the area again and polish.
In severe cases, remove the existing paint and reapply the entire painting system.
