Starting a car painting project requires careful ground work. Before painting, it is important to wash the surfaces to be painted carefully and remember that detergents must be silicone-free. Using a grease and silicone remover is usually the best way to clean areas before painting.
Once the areas are cleaned, it's time to look for any damage, dents and rust. It is recommended to mark the damaged areas, for example by rotating the mark with sandpaper or with a water-soluble marker, so that they are easily visible. It is not possible to mirror a partially sanded and dusty surface properly, so the markings are useful.
