Cracking

Cracking: Irregular cracks with varying depths appear on the paint surface. Cracking often occurs in repair areas or along the edges of surfaces.

Description:

Cracking

Cause:

  1. Existing cracks in the old paint surface were not completely sanded off before applying the new topcoat.
  2. Aging or excessive heat treatment leads to differences in the properties of the existing paint and the new paint, making it easier for the topcoat to detach.
  3. The paint was not fully dried before lacquering, leaving it "active" beneath the surface.
  4. Inappropriate substrate treatment:
    • The substrate is not clean enough.
    • Improper sealing.
  5. Painting over an insufficiently cured paint film or thermoplastic acrylic coating.
  6. Cracks in the filler or primer.
  7. Excessively thick paint: The thicker the paint layer (especially air-dried), the lower the cold resistance, increasing the risk of cracking.
  8. Before painting: Insufficient mixing, too little thinner, or incorrect type of thinner.
  9. The substrate is too cold or too hot during spraying.

Repair:

  1. Remove the old paint surface and reapply the paints.
