Sanding Marks

Sanding marks from the substrate or primer become visible after the paint surface has dried.

sanding marks

Cause:

  1. Incorrect primer preparation: insufficient filler or low-quality filler, as well as excessively coarse sandpaper.

  2. Poor sanding tools or incorrect sanding technique.

  3. Insufficient topcoat thickness.

  4. Sanding without a sanding block on flat surfaces.

  5. Excessively thick primer layer before the topcoat and insufficient drying time for the primer.

  6. Incorrect preparation of the old paint surface.

Solution:

  1. Sand with very fine sandpaper and then polish.

  2. If the scratches are deep, sand off the paint and redo the process.
