Yellowing of Clear Coat

The clear coat has developed a yellowish tint.

New paint:

  1. Dirty spray gun.

  2. Incorrect clear coat and/or hardener.

Old paint:

  1. The clear coat is too thin.

  2. Contaminated hardener.

  3. Incorrect clear coat.

  4. Effects of corrosive environmental conditions.

Prevention:

  1. Ensure that hardener containers are tightly sealed after use.

  2. Follow the recommendations in the technical data sheets (TDS).

  3. Use the recommended hardener.

Correction:

  • Allow the paint surface to dry properly. Sand and repaint.
